H.264+ Smart Codec vs H.264
Here are my finding, attached are the graphs and metrics I have taken: Storage (using SD card file size): Comparison Smart Codec vs No Smart Codec:
Still: 60.42% Decreased file size
Movement: 21.10% Decreased file size
Network (using solar winds on SNMP): Comparison Smart Codec vs No Smart Codec:
Still: 40% Decreased stream throughput
Movement (using LPR wheel): 16.84% Decreased stream
Observation
- How much bandwidth does Dahua's new H.264+ Smart Codec save compared to H.264?
- What are the shortcomings, if any, to using H.264+ Smart Codec?
- What equipment is required to take advantage of H.264+ Smart Codec?
Hypothesis
H.264+ Smart Codec will be more efficient than H.264. I expect a reduction of 20-50% in bandwidth over H.264.
